Wise up at a holiday gathering

Summer is here….unless “here” is Seattle 😦 That means warm weather, swimming at the beach and BBQs. If you are going to a BBQ this weekend try and fill up on grilled veggies if they are offered….. and also have a little grilled chicken or fish as well. Have a hamburger without the bun and then you can have a little potato salad. If you must have the bun do without the sides. Make sure to eat a little before you go so you aren’t starving when you get there.

FYI……a margarita contains at least 200 calories unless it’s a Skinnygirl™ margarita which contains half of that.  So if you have 2-3 regular margaritas you’ve consumed almost 600 calories and that could have been a fabulous dessert.  Beer is heavy on the calories and carbs and who can stop at one so try and avoid it all together.   It’s called a beer belly for a reason.

And most importantly …..have a great weekend everyone! Make family and friends the focus of your weekend….. not food.

    Good advice. I was at a barbeque today and I had a hamburger without the bun, some salad and then some watermelon and I was full. I took your advice and ate a little beforehand so I didn’t attack the food. I felt much better not pigging out. I have about 20 more lbs to go and will do it slowly.
